Sadly more than 250,000 cats and dogs are killed every year in Australian pounds and shelters due to being unwanted. There just aren't enough loving homes for the pets that are continuously bred with no thought to the homes they will need.

Fix-the-Nation offer free cat and dog desexing for the pets of people on low incomes.

Fix-the-Nation is a not-for-profit registered charity run totally by a great, but small, team of volunteers. It is the first organisation in Australia who was founded with the sole purpose of providing free desexing to pets of those people who are struggling financially on low incomes.

Funding for the free desexing comes from donations, product sales and adoption fees for pups brought in under the Last Litter Program. The Last Litter Program finds safe and loving homes for puppies which are vaccinated, wormed, flea-treated and desexed before adoption. The mums and/or dads of the puppies are desexed, as well as the puppies, which prevents further unwanted or unexpected litters, reducing the amount of needless deaths due to animal homelessness. Therefore - the last litter.

Fix-the-Nation, like most charities, receives no government funding towards providing this vital service for people who otherwise would not be able to afford to have their pets desexed. Since beginning in March 2015 they have desexed, at no cost to the owner's, over 230 cats and dogs.

If you, or someone you know could use their services, please keep an eye on their Facebook page for offers as they arise. Due to funding limitations Fix-the-Nation is not able to keep waiting lists. Help is offered on a first in - first served basis as they are offered on the page.

If you are aware of someone in Queensland that could take advantage of the free desexing offer for parents of puppies under the Last Litter Program, and who would like to be able to surrender a litter with no fees or hassles, please get them to contact the Fix-the-Nation Facebook page or email .

Remember - there are NOT ENOUGH HOMES. Desex! End the suffering!
